More Festival Fun

This weekend we went to the Love Festival and the Farm and Forest Festival. First, the Love Festival. No, no naked people running around with loud music in the background. Just some Krishna's and vegan food and yoga. Elijah enjoyed the orange snowball, and the muffin. After we said he couldn't eat anymore (apparently love = food to E), he ran sprints. And that was the Love festival.

The Farm and Forest Festival was a bit more exciting. There was, of course, more food and lots of fresh lemonade.

But no, we didn't just eat, we also did things like watch a sheep get sheered and watch a man cut wood for a house.

We also took a ride around the farm, made some crafts, played with some "old" toys, and Carrie and I learned to dance.

Festival Fun

So many festivals, so little time. Today E and I went to the African American Art festival downtown, where E made a beautiful bracelet and a bird.

We also went to the Celebrate the Child (child abuse prevention) fair, where E got a ton of free toys and goodies, including a kite, puzzle, bubbles, toothbrush, crayons, coloring books, and lots of information. He got his face painted and hula hooped for a toy...

Belt Test

On Saturday Elijah and Carole had their karate belt test. This was E's first test at the YMCA with all of the other "regular" karate students, and he did a great job! He earned his yellow with a white stripe belt, and Carole earned her green with a brown stripe belt. Elijah is the first kid on the first row on the left...

Officially Waiting!

We are now "officially waiting" for a toddler boy to adopt! We've been waiting, but now that our paperwork is done, we have our place in line. The wait time for this adoption is even more unpredictable than China, but it should be sometime this year! I've asked around and people with our agency who have been waiting for toddlers have waited on average 2 months for a referral, so I'll be keeping my cell phone close. Of course, it could also be 9 months or more.

In other news, E went to Kindergarten Roundup today and took a tour of the school he'll be in next year. We also both have belt test on Saturday...E's first test at the YMCA with the whole group. Very exciting :-)

E's Platinum Medal!

Despite it being a rainy weekend, E and I got out to the annual art festival to meet friends, check out art, do a little shopping, and of course, eat lost of kettle corn!

We have also been creating Miis for the "Check Mii Out" contests on our Wii. Basically there is a theme and you try to make a Mii that fits the theme...then people across the world vote and you see how close you are to the winners. Anyway, we've never won, but we've make many a Mii. We then take turns playing with that Mii over the weekend and try to get as many medals for it in Wii Play. This weekend it was a starship captain...so of course I made Jean Luc. Jean Luc had a great weekend on Wii play, as he (thanks to E) got a platinum medal in Find the Mii. This is E's best game, one of the hardest, and finally he got above the 80th level to get a platinum!!! Seriously, I don't think the boy has ever been this excited! We also managed to win gold medals in every single game for Jean Luc; I scored 4 platinum medals (in cow racing, billiards, fishing, and shooting) and 3 gold medals (pose the mii, table tennis, and laser hockey). Han is king of the Tanks, and he finally got a gold this weekend too. I promised E I would document our amazing Wii weekend, so there it is :-)
